Sedation Dentistry
Safe, anxiety-free care so your child can wake up with a smile.
We Never Want a Child to Fear the Dentist
Some children are naturally anxious, have sensitive gag reflexes, or require extensive treatment that is difficult to sit through. We believe these children deserve a dental experience that is free from trauma.
Sedation dentistry may be recommended for certain procedures, including laser frenectomy procedures, depending on your child’s age and treatment needs.

We offer specialized sedation options tailored to your child’s needs, serving families across St. Augustine, Palm Coast, St. Johns, and Flagler County.
🛡️ Safety First
We do not "multitask" with your child's safety. For deep sedation, we bring in a specialist (MD anesthesiologist) to monitor vitals, so our doctors and the team can focus 100% on the dentistry.
When Is Sedation Dentistry Recommended?
Sedation may be recommended for very young children, patients with special healthcare needs, severe anxiety, strong gag reflexes, or those requiring extensive dental treatment.
Our Sedation Options
Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas)
Best for: Mild anxiety, nervous butterflies.
A sweet-smelling gas breathed through a small nose mask. It creates a feeling of relaxation and happiness. It is very safe, works quickly, and wears off completely before you leave the office.
IV Sedation (General Anesthesia)
Best for: Very young children, special needs, or extensive work.
Your child will sleep comfortably through the entire visit. We partner with Pediatric Dental Anesthesia Associates (PDAA) to provide hospital-grade anesthesia safety right here in our office.
Common Parent Questions
Is it safe?
Yes. Safety is our priority. We follow strict AAPD guidelines. For IV sedation, a dedicated Board-Certified Anesthesiologist is present the entire time to monitor heart rate, breathing, and vitals.
Will they feel pain?
No. The goal is a pain-free experience. With Nitrous, they feel relaxed/floaty. With IV sedation, they are fully asleep and will not remember the sights, sounds, or sensations of treatment.
How do I prepare?
Nitrous: Light meal is okay.
IV Sedation: Strict fasting (no food/drink) is required for safety. We will provide a specific checklist during your consultation.
Unsure which option is right?
Please schedule your child’s visit for a consultation. We will discuss your child’s dental needs, anxiety level, and medical history to recommend the safest path.
